Role of renal doppler ultrasonography in evaluating renal haemodynamics in diabetic patients and its correlation with laboratory parameters (serum HbA1C and serum creatinine)

Background: Due to high prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus in India, Diabetic nephropathy is on the rise. Nephropathy leading cause End stage renal disease and major factor responsible for transplantation. Grey scale ultrasound can detect morphologic parenchymal changes late but functional haemodynamic be detected early on, by means doppler indices such as Resistive Index (RI) Pulsatility (PI). Hence, application aid diagnosis nephropathic allow medical intervention, therefore improving prognosis. Methods: Renal ultrasonography was performed 64 diabetic individuals, main artery at interlobar arteries both kidneys upper pole, interpolar region, lower pole. RI PI were obtained each averaged. The correlation between Mean PI, with HbA1c serum creatinine checked every patient using relevant statistical tests.
